Why Am I Being Charged An Inactivity Fee?

WTH?? Im a pro account user and have spent a bunch a money through other accounts as we help other clients out.. Monkey Pickles has been with sponsored tweets almost you came on the scene. You better check your automated email system.

We haven't logged in because we haven't received any new direct offers from advertisers.

We will not subject our twitter followers to .05 and .10 clicks just to drive the business model "sponsored tweets is misguided" in your business model. The fact you would even let this email go out to anyone that has completed projects, generated revenue, and is open to the idea your wrong. and it wont matter how many new services you will be a failing business model with twitter itself slowly opening up advertisers. and more and more media kits being offered.

Then looking to drain our account for an inactivity fee that we have willfully earned...

Were a little different in that we are an agency and will use resources to publicly highlight this.

You should review your own social media practices.

    Hi,

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with us!

Based on user feedback, we are planning to expand the ways that Tweeters can indicate account activity. Currently this is limited to acting on an Offer which, as you have noted, is often not an accurate indication of activity.

In taking a look at your account this morning, I see that you could benefit from an overhaul to your keywords. You can find more information about choosing helpful keywords here.

In the mean time, I am going to reach out to our Fulfillment Team to see if we can't get you into a current campaign. Once you receive this Offer, whether you choose to accept or decline, your account will be considered active for at least he next six months.

Also, keep in mind that action is the key to activity. So, if you are not interested in an Offer, manually declining will indicate account activity from you, but allowing the Offer to close on its own will not.

    All the Best,
    Carri

      Hi John,

I would definitely reconsider a few of your keywords and add a few more. You are allowed ten and you currently have six.

You can find more information about choosing helpful keywords here.

Also, I see that you recently completed an Offer, so this will keep your account in and active status for at least the next 6 months.

      All the Best,
      Carri

      Hi John,

I have put in a request to have the fees removed from your account credited back to your account balance. You should see these returned within the week.

      All the Best,

So your fulfillment team sends us a Quaker Bar Tweet and a Newport Beach Tweet? Sure we updated our Keywords.. and added a few categories that have nothing to do with our account just for the inlfuence.. but okay..

Where can we find the average amount of advertiser spend and how many current active advertisers sponsored tweets has?

I hope the IZEA system doesn't fold on itself.

In taking another look at your account this afternoon, I see that you have not yet been charged an inactivity fee and your account has recent activity, so you should not have to worry about becoming inactive again for at least the next six months.

I also went ahead and provided you two complimentary months of PRO. You will not be charged a PRO fee again until August 13th.

      All the Best,
      Carri
    • WTF? I have dozens of accounts. The inactivity fee is charged, as far as I understand if I don't login for a month. But I just logged in in each account a few days ago trying to withdraw (without any luck). And yet I've been charged inactivity fee once again? If your withdrawal system would work I would withdraw last month, and avoid around $60 in inactivity fees on all accounts. It's your fault I couldn't withdraw, not mine. Cancel this fees and give me my money.

(Wrote this as a reply to someone else's question but saw that is was "Answered" so am posting as it's own question.)

This is complete bull (and possibly illegal?). I've had my communication settings to "DM MESSAGE" and have recieved NO COMMUNICATION AT ALL from Sponsored Tweets for months now.

I decided to log into the site out of curiosity and see that I've gotten several missed campaigns that have now expired (was not DMed about these!) which is frustrating as these are missed opportunities of income for me and now I'm scared that because I didn't approve or reject these (they expired) this will affect future opportunities!

I'm also shocked that my account is now at ZERO DOLLARS due to Sponsored Tweets penalising me for inactivity for the past 4 months! I was not informed this was happening at all either by DM (I have authorised twitter to connect to my spont account) or email (I check my spam filter daily so it's not marked as spam). This is also stupid as I had no reason to log in as I was set to be notified by DM if I had received any offers.

I AM FURIOUS about this! I was a big fan of Sponsored Tweets and referred quite a few users but now I feel like this is just a scam!

    fyi my account is @moonkittynet

    • So I changed my keywords 8 days ago and my price is still just $2.99 - suggested is like $11 or something like that.

Still no offers. There aren't even any of those horrible pay per click offers to prevent this inactivity thing from getting shoved on me.

Once again, my Twitter account is not one that I have abandoned, in which case I would completely understand. I have 10,000 legit followers, and I sometimes get 20-60 retweets on a good tweet. Maybe I would understand if this was not the case, but it is.

I really want to like SponsoredTweets, and I have up until this problem. Please offer me some sort of solution.

      Thanks for your time,

      Alex G
    • Carri (Communications & Support) July 17, 2012 21:17
      Hi Alex,

Offers are really dependent on what advertisers are looking for at any particular time as well as your keywords, asking price, the interaction with your followers and your number of followers.

As such, it's difficult to say when you may get an Offer or to predict which Advertiser may want you at which time.

That being said, I do not want your account to become inactive due to this. I believe we are currently running a campaign for our latest site, so hopefully I will be able to get an Offer to you for this.

Once you act on this Offer, whether accepting or manually declining it, this should keep your account active for at least the next six months.

By that time, we should have additional options in place to indicate activity.

      All the Best,
      Carri

I am also going to be marked inactive as I haven't logged in for a while - which isn't true as have been logging in at least once a week to see if I have any offers. WHICH I DON'T! So why should I be penalized the money I have earned so far due to not having any offers???

Think you need to change this policy!
    • Carri (Communications & Support) July 03, 2012 21:03
      Hi Fiona,

We apologize for the frustration. To be active, you have to manually act on an Offer whether you accept it or decline it.

Ignoring an Offer and letting it expire, logging into your account or editing your account information is not considered active by the system.

If you can please provide me your Twitter handle, I would be happy to take a look at see if there are any suggestions I can make to help your account receive more Offers.

      All the Best,
      Carri

Izea is a great company for blog advertising. But for the sponsored Tweets it does need some tweaking.. I too just got that same email and I log in all the time and I have no offers.. You can't penalize people if you aren't offering them anything.
    • Carri (Communications & Support) July 03, 2012 21:12
      Hi,

We apologize for the frustration. To be active, you have to manually act on an Offer whether you accept it or decline it.

Ignoring an Offer and letting it expire, logging into your account or editing your account information is not considered activity by the system.

That being said, there are a few issues with your account that are going to cause you to receive fewer Offers than most. The first is your avatar. As most of our Advertisers are quite conservative about whom they allow to represent them, cleavage shots are generally the first ones filtered out of matches.

Second, although your followers do warrant a higher asking price, most Advertisers create campaigns with a maximum tweet price somewhere between $5-$15. Asking significantly higher than that will also segment you out of matches.

This doesn't mean you have to lower your asking price, but I do want you to understand that you are going to get less Offers at $50/tweet than you would likely get at $10/tweet. However, you'll have to complete 5 times more Offers $10 to make the same amount of money, so lowering may not ultimately be worth it. I don't know what the right thing for you is, but I do want you to be aware of the options.

Finally, I would suggest rethinking some of your keywords in order to get more Offers. This post on our blog should help to guide you.

      All the Best,
      Carri

    • Hi Carri. Thank you for refunding the inactivity fee. But it looks to me you're the only one working at SponsoredTweets. You see, you wrote 3 months ago:

"based on the feedback we've received regarding inactivity, how it's indicated and how fees are charged, you should see several changes to the systems in the coming months to alleviate the frustrations people are experiencing. "

It's good that you brought these issues to the attention of your executive team. And very bad for your company that it takes so much time to change this process.

I still don't see any positive changes in the system. Inactivity fees are charged the same way. In fact, 90% of my accounts are now in inactive mode since I don't see any point in using my time and resources to tweet only to see my money disappear in these ridiculous inactivity fees.
    • Carri (Communications & Support) January 10, 2013 15:36
      I apologize for the delays.

Making these changes are still in the plans, but we have a very small Engineering Team to cover several properties, so this has not yet made it into a sprint.

However, the are much larger changes coming for the entirety of IZEA which should alleviate this and a host of other issues which we hope to see released by mid-year.

      All the Best,
      Carri

I've lost $15 for inactivity fees, which is really upsetting because the last several times I logged in (before I'd been charged the fees), I tried to cash out and got an error.

You say the only way to currently avoid inactivity fees is to manually decline an offer? I haven't received an offer in months, so there's nothing to decline! It is absolutely ridiculous to keep saying, "we understand this isn't the most accurate way to measure activity." So fix it already!

      Hi Chris,

In taking a look at the transactions on your 'my account' page, it indicates a cash out was performed from that account on November 17th.

I am going to send an email to our Finance Team to ask them to track the status of that payment to let you know where it went and if it has been received.

I will be sure to copy you on that email communication so that I don't have to post the transaction details in a public forum.

Your SponsoredTweets account will be marked inactive next month and its balance subject to a $5/mo inactivity fee until depleted.

Understand that you have answered this before but in that answer you provide a blog post link but that link i click say the page do not exist. Is there a way to stop this as I am now active in my twitter account again.

    Hi Carri,

I see you helping out people in doubt/trouble.

I had 1485 points in my SocialSpark account, which I did not en-cash with the hope of getting new leads, writing more posts, earning more and then withdrawing the bulk amount.

I did not receive leads for a long time and then finally when I did, I showed interest but the sponsor never responded back. This has been the story for the last couple of months and I also see that there is nothing left in my account. ZERO!!

Can you help me get back my points, as I actually wanted to write posts but the sponsors never showed up?

    Thanks,
    Tanya

      Wonderful!

I heard back from Finance that they were able to refund the 2013 fees to your account, so you should see $9.80 added back.

Unfortunately, as the books have been closed on 2012, they were unable to refund the $5.00 fee from December.
